Save the Children is currently recruiting Child Development Program Managers  based in the Gaza field office CDPM/GZ/2013.

Summary of the position’s key areas of accountability:

The Child Development Programme Manager (CDPM) will be the responsible for the overall supervision of Child Development interventions in the West Bank or Gaza depending on final recruitment, including Child Protection, Education, Health and nutrition and basic community related services development, as well as building national agency and partner capacity around child-focused development programming. The CPDM will ensure the quality and effectiveness of child-focused development programming in accordance with SCI’s overall strategic plan as delegated by the Senior Manager and Senior Management team, grant proposals and guidelines, as well as SC values and principles. The CPDM will provide input into the strategic vision and direction to the SC Child Development programme in Palestine, including allocation of resources and ensuring that appropriate controls are maintained at implementation level.

The CDPM will be responsible for overseeing the overall implementation of Child Development programming within his/her regional focus area, as well as national activities in coordiantion with other SCI offices and partners and manager, and will coordinate partnership with local organizations and national stakeholders within their area. The Child Development portfolio is expected to grow substantially in the coming three years, and the CDPM will be responsible to participate in fundraising and proposal development teams to insure its successful and strategic growth. S/he will also organize and coordinate workshops, trainings, seminars, and awareness campaigns involving children, youth and adults and partake in needs assessments and evaluations for the projects. The CDPM will also provide technical oversight and management to programs overseeing the development of child-focused development programs in various parts of the West Bank and/or Gaza, and will provide expertise to key themes of SCI programming with their counterpart CDPM in their counterpart Palestinian area.

Qualification, Skills and Experinece

Requirements:
-Bachelor or Master in social and economic development, public health, international development, or social work, accompanied with relevant experience in programming and managing multi-million, multiyear programs. Master or PhD education will be an asset.
-7 years of experience in development with at least 4 years in a management capacity.
-Expertise in Child Protection and Education programming required
-Previous experience working with European donors required, European Commission or Scandinavian experience preferred. Previous experience with other donors including CIDA/DFATD and USAID will be an asset.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
-Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
-Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
-A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment.
-Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives.
-Written and verbal fluency in  English required, written and verbal fluency in Arabic highly preferred.
-Commitment to Save the Children values
-Knowledge of Education in Emergencies standards a plus.
-Knowledge of INEE standards a plus.
